Grant Recipients 2008: The Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation

The 2008 Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation Grant Recipients are Jessica Faiss, Mathias Kristersson and EvaMarie Lindahl. Today, the three young Swedish artists will receive the award in conjunction with the inauguration of the exhibition Grant Recipients 2008: The Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation at Bonniers Konsthall in Stockholm.

Every year, Bonniers Konsthall presents the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation Grant Recipients. The Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation awards an annual grant for the support of young visual artists and artistic work. The Foundation was founded in 1985 by Jeanette Bonnier in memory of her daughter Maria. During the Foundation’s existence, including this year’s recipients, a total of 60 artists have received grants. Some of the former recipients include Jacob Dahlgren, Gunnel Wåhlstrand, Cecilia Edefalk and Karin Mamma Andersson, all of whom have received wide acclaim in Sweden as well as internationally.

The 2008 Grant Recipients are Jessica Faiss, Mathias Kristersson och EvaMarie Lindahl The selection has been made by the Board of the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation and an invited guest jury comprising: Niclas Östlind, Senior Curator at Åmells, Paola Zamora, freelance curator and William Aronowitsch, gallery owner.

“Jessica Faiss receives the award for her focused, consistent and long-term work with moods and motifs, and for her exceptional ability to bring out painterly qualities in the medium of video.”

“Mathias Kristersson receives the award for his subtle and visually poetic tussle with language and for his inquiring and impressively wide range of artistic expressions.

“EvaMarie Lindahl receives the award for her exceptionally elaborate draughtsmanship that creates an exuberant and teeming imagery where present and past meet.”

Jessica Faiss has participated in exhibitions at Göteborgs Konsthall, Kristianstads Konsthall, and Kabusa Konsthall. She has exhibited internationally and participated in shows in public spaces. Jessica Faiss was born in 1973 and educated at Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.

Mathias Kristersson has exhibited at Ystad Konstmuseum, Lilith Performance Studio, and Bonniers Konsthall. He has participated in film festivals and has been published in OEI and Pequod magazines. He was born in 1979 and educated at Malmö Art Academy and the College of Architecture and Arts, Chicago.

EvaMarie Lindahl has exhibited at Pictura gallery, Liljevalchs konsthall, and Konsthall C, as well as participating in international group exhibitions. She was born in 1976 and educated at Malmö Art Academy, Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, and Funen Art Academy. She is represented at the Malmö Art Museum.
