April 05 – April 30

Sneak launch #1: Lester

Gabriel Lester sneak launches Bonniers Konsthall, April 5-30, 2006

Gabriel Lester has been invited to Bonniers Konsthall to work with the entire glass façade of the building. Specifically for Bonniers Konsthall,  Lester has created the new large-scale video installation "Seen", with six scenes that will activate the entire facade. "Seen" paraphrases a sequence from Jacques Tati’s Playtime where pedestrians, walking down a street, peer into a modernist home and observe the tenants. "Seen" focuses on the act of observing itself, using Bonniers Konsthall, a home for visual arts, as a sounding board.

The work has been produced in Stockholm by Bonniers Konsthall.

Gabriel Lester was born in Holland in 1972, and lives and works in New York and Brussels. He embarked on his artistic career by studying film, which is apparent in his visually powerful installations. His art often touches upon how illusion is created within theatre and film.
